Set Up Side Navigation Bar

In version 4.0.0.0 we introduced the possibility of setting Side navigation bar from which you will have access to:

  • Search function
  • Activity stream
  • Profile page
  • Members’ tabs
  • Profile settings
  • Friends requests
  • Messages
  • Notifications
  • Logout option

This feature is currently in BETA version and will be developed in future PeepSo releases. The side navigation bar settings can be found in WP Admin -> Gecko -> Gecko customizer -> Theme -> Sidenav. In the basic settings, the available options are:

  • Show sidenav: activates the side navigation bar
  • Logo upload: allows you to upload a logo which will appear at the top of the navigation bar

Compatibility settings

Compatibility settings are located in WP Admin -> PeepSo -> Configuration -> Advanced, which could resolve issues with specific hosting settings and plugin conflicts. 

WordPress.com / JetPack – compatibility mode for resolving specific issues with WordPress.com hosting and JetPack plugin

Divi Builder – compatibility mode for resolving issues with Divi styles that are known to cause a conflict with PeepSo

Exclude Ad Categories From Creating The Activity Stream

You can exclude ad categories from appearing on the main stream in the settings of a third-party WPAdverts plugin. To do this:

  1. Go to WP Admin -> Classifieds -> Categories
  2. Select the category you would like to exclude
  3. Turn off the PeepSo WP Adverts integration setting at the bottom of the category settings.

Customize Your Font

With the help of Gecko Customizer settings, you can customize the font used on your site. You can find these settings in WP Admin -> Gecko -> Gecko Customizer -> Site -> Fonts.

Choose the font you want to use on the site from the Google fonts available in the list.

You can also change the font size, line-height and its colors using the settings available in WP Admin -> Gecko -> Gecko Customizer -> Site -> Typography.

Customize Site Logo

With the settings available in Gecko Customizer, you will be able to upload and customize your site logo. You can find these settings in WP Admin -> Gecko -> Gecko Customizer -> Site -> Logo Section.

Logo Image section:

Here you will find settings to upload logos separately for desktop and mobile devices.

Tagline section:

  • Show tagline next to the logo – enables the display of tagline text next to the logo. Tagline text can be set in WP Admin -> Settings -> General.
  • Show tagline on mobile – enable this setting if you also want the tagline text to be displayed on mobile devices.

Other section:

  • Logo link redirect – the page the user will be redirected to after clicking on the logo.
  • Logo height – logo height on desktop devices.
  • Mobile logo height – logo height on mobile devices.

If you want to change the color of tagline text and logo text you can change it in WP Admin -> Gecko -> Gecko Customizer ->Theme -> Header -> Header colors section settings.

Remove Side Paddings On Community Pages On Mobile

Gecko Customizer will allow you to remove paddings on community pages on mobile devices. You can find these settings in WP Admin -> Gecko -> Gecko Customizer -> PeepSo -> General -> Full width PeepSo pages on mobile.

WordPress Blog Settings

The settings available in Gecko Customizer will help you customize your blog page and individual blog posts. You can find these settings in WP Admin -> Gecko -> Gecko Customizer -> Blog.

General settings section:

  • Show sidebars on Blog Posts – allow sidebars to be shown in single post view
  • Limit words on Blog post – will allow you to shorten the entire post content on your Blog Posts page.

  • Show `update` date on posts meta – will display the date the post was updated

  • Max height of the posts featured image (Blog view) – will allow you to set the height of the featured image on the Blog page.

Grid layout section:

  • Grid layout on Blog page – will allow you to set grid layout on blog page.
  • Grid layout on Archives page – will allow you to set up a grid layout on the archives page.
  • Grid layout on Search page – will allow you to set up a grid layout on the search page.

Single Post section:

  • Max height of the post featured image – will allow you to set the maximum height of a featured image in a single post view.

Search results section:

  • Show header – makes the header visible on the search results page
  • Show footer – makes the footer visible on the search results page
  • Show left sidebar – makes the left sidebar visible on the search results page
  • Show right sidebar – makes the right sidebar visible on the search results page
  • Show header menu – makes the header menu visible on the search results page
  • Enable full width layout – enables full width layout on search results page
  • Enable full width header – enables full width header on search results page

Set Up Sidebars

The Gecko Customizer settings will allow you to customize the sidebars settings to suit your needs. You can find these settings in WP Admin -> Gecko -> Gecko Customizer -> Theme -> Sidebars section. In these settings you will find:

  • Sticky Sidebars – enable to make sidebars sticky

Scrollable sidebars (BETA)

  • Scrollable left sidebar – enable to scroll the left sidebar independently from the middle column
  • Scrollable right sidebar – enable to scroll the right sidebar independently of the middle column

Sidebar gaps & dimensions

  • Left sidebar fixed width – adjust width of the left sidebar using px, % or fr units.
  • Right sidebar fixed width – adjust the width of the right sidebar using units of px, % or fr.
  • Widgets gap – distance between widgets in the sidebar

Mobile visibility

  • Show left sidebar on mobile – makes the left sidebar visible on mobile devices
  • Show right sidebar on mobile – makes the right sidebar visible on mobile devices

Landing / Register Box Settings

The Gecko Customizer settings will allow you to customize the landing / register box that appears on a page that uses the peepso_activity shortcode for people who are not logged in. To find these settings go to WP Admin -> Gecko -> Gecko Customizer -> PeepSo -> Landing / Register box.

These settings will customize this area of PeepSo separately for desktop and mobile devices. The available settings are:

  • Background color under image – adjust the background color under the image.

Desktop View:

  • Landing image height – adjust the height of the landing image using the values given in %, vh, or px.
  • Landing image position – adjust the position of the image by selecting Center, Top or Bottom.
  • Landing image size – adjust the image size by selecting Cover, Auto, or Contain.
  • Repeat the landing image – enable the setting to fill the white space.

Mobile View:

  • Landing image height – adjust the height of the landing image using the values given in %, vh, or px.
  • Landing image position – adjust the position of the image by selecting Center, Top or Bottom.
  • Landing image size – adjust the image size by selecting Cover, Auto, or Contain.
  • Repeat the landing image – enable the setting to fill the white space.
