Supporting Artists With Your Online Crafters Guild

Are you a weekend warrior? Do you like to find things at the swap meet and repurpose them? Maybe your local Crafters Guild would like to build an online community as well. You can do all of these things and more with your own PeepSo Community. Plus, an active community will boost your membership rates and retention.

Feature Local Artists

Featuring local artists is an important part of any crafters guild or artist workshop. Generally, many art galleries do this and they do it well. In your online community you can feature the hobbyist as well as the professional.

Encourage your members to show off their craft rooms, workshops, and finished pieces.  Feature one artist a month. What makes the artist choose their medium? What inspires them? Your community members will be inspired to keep creating, iterate, and maybe even collaborate.

Collaborate Online

When GarageBand came out from Apple, musicians were able to collaborate from a distance. Recording for the hobbyist was changed forever. Connecting your network of crafters online will help others collaborate as well. Plus, your community’s sponsors can send samples to your VIP members. Changes in medium and tools always gets the creative mind alert.

Quilters can work on squares and send them to one person. Yarn work artists can work on blankets together and donate them to a cause. Silversmiths can create a collection for a gallery. The options are endless.

Create a Marketplace

The mindset of the creator is to create — for the intrinsic enjoyment of art itself. Selling is often not a crafter’s primary goal — at least when they start. When they get into the craft show circuit (or farmer’s market), there is quite a bit of work for (often) very little reward. Online they go.

So many crafters turn to Etsy to sell their items online. And, for that reason, Etsy is a great marketplace. That doesn’t mean they are the only option for crafters guilds.

One marketplace for your guild gives merchant members the benefit of your brand. This means the domain authority, branding, and the articles you continually publish on the blog. At a higher membership level, give access to sell on your online marketplace.

Connecting Crafters Online

It’s your community, your way with PeepSo. You have all the tools you need to engage your community — beyond the craft room. Create your community your way. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t start today.

My mom hated Etsy so hard. It's a good thing I'm not really a web developer.
