PeepSo 1.7.0 Is Out!

PeepSo 1.7.0 is out and available to you right now. I’m sure you want to rush off and download it right away, but first do take a moment to read through what’s new in this version. I also wrote a post a couple of days ago describing the Development and QA process that the version underwent. It will tell you how we got here and reveal what goes into creating each new version of PeepSo. Do check it out.

So… What’s New?

Since it’s really a lot, I divided the announcement into 4 blogposts:

New Default Covers and Avatars

With the introduction of the GroupSo plugin, we decided to refresh the default covers and avatars for user profiles. They now match perfectly the fresh, new look of the avatar and Groups cover.

Improved, Unified, Better Navigation

We’ve unified PeepSo Core, making it better and clearer than ever. The toolbar navigation, the profile navigation, and the PeepSo Profile navigation all now have exactly the same layout. It’s completely smooth and makes for a much better user experience for your community. Take a look at the screenshot below.

Add Location to Albums

Now users can add location to albums using the familiar location picker overlay. If you’ve ever added a pin to a digital map (or a location to a post), the process will be entirely familiar… and very easy.

Successful Login Redirect To Any Page

After a successful login, users could either be sent to their Profile or to their Activity Stream. Both are good options but we wanted more. In fact, we wanted all of them. From version 1.7.0 you’ll be able to send users to any WordPress page you want after they’ve logged in. Alternatively you can set the config option to: no redirect, and keep them on their current page.

BuddyPress to PeepSo Migration Tool

With the addition of GroupSo to the plugins suite we’ve also made sure you can migrate your BuddyPress communities to PeepSo and keep the Groups you have.

Groups are finally available. At this point as GroupSo plugin only allows to create Public groups, all of the migrated groups will become public after migration. We’ll be adding Closed and Secret groups in the 1.7.1 and 1.7.2 versions of PeepSo and updating the migrator as we go.

It’s very important that you’re aware of the privacy of the migrated groups.

You can download the BuddyPress to PeepSo Migration Tool from here. Or go to the backend of your WordPress site > Plugins > Add New and search for PeepSo. It’ll be there amongst other results.

Bugfixes and Improvements

In this version we have added a bunch of improvements as well as a few bugfixes. For example all of the widgets with the exception of PeepSo Profile Widget have default titles now. The email footer is no longer hardcoded and you can edit it in the language file. We also reorganized settings for Email Digest and PMP Pro Integration plugins. For full changelog, please go here.

PeepSo – myCRED Integration Plugin

PeepSo is getting more attention from third party developers. With the release of PeepSo 1.7.0 we added a great 3rd party integration plugin to our store.

PeepSo – myCRED Integration Plugin

myCRED awards users points for actions performed on your website. The PeepSo – myCRED Integration Plugin adds a bunch of new hooks for PeepSo-related actions. The plugin was created by a third party developer but we’re supporting it so if you run into any issues, you can still open a support ticket with us.

PeepSo 1.5.2 is out. A great start to the new year!

This is a minor release focusing on bug fixes and WordPress 4.4 compatibility. We really emphasized the code quality and testing during not only this update but all the previous ones, and when we checked PeepSo on WP 4.4 we found a slight misalignment of styles in the backend configuration options – that’s been fixed. Apart from this there were just a few minor bugs. It’s all good now.

Deep in development

We’re still deep in the development of Customizable Profile Fields. When they’re ready, you’ll be able to create profiles exactly the way you want. We’re also working on improving the current functions and adding new features.

PeepSo 1.5.1 Is Out And Ready For You To Download

PeepSo 1.5.1

PeepSo 1.5.1

PeepSo 1.5.1 is the most advanced and stable version we have released so far. It comes with a lot of improvements, bugfixes and even a couple of new features.

New Feature! – Order Your Photos

Adding lots of photos to postbox has always been a great feature. But we felt that it was time to offer even more. Now you can not only upload multiple photos at once, you can also arrange them so that they are in the order you prefer. It’s great when you want your pictures to tell a story.

New Feature! – Mute Conversations

Sometimes you want to focus but you don’t want to turn off the entire chat feature. You just want to turn off one annoying person or group.

You’ve got it. Now you can mute conversations, and you can even apply time settings so that no one will thinking you’re blocking them forever.

Starting from PeepSo 1.5.1 you will also have control over who can write on your profile wall. You can choose between site members, friends, and nobody but
you.

Improved Cropping, Friend Requests, Themes, And More

We take PeepSo development very seriously. We want PeepSo to be the best social networking experience available for WordPress regardless of the device. So we redesigned the entire cropping library. You can now crop your profile picture easily on a mobile device.

This version of PeepSo also comes with unified handling of friend requests and three-state buttons. Every user listing uses the same logic, less duplicate code, and the same experience throughout the application.

We improved compatibility with the Divi theme from Elegant Themes. We tested PeepSo extensively with the theme as well as with the Divi builder. It looks great and works so smoothly.

Validation on the config options in the backend of PeepSo has also been improved. Validation now happens in real time instead of waiting until after you hit the ‘Save’ button. If there’s a problem with the values, you’ll know immediately.

Bugs Were Squished In The Making Of This Version

A bit of bug squishing means that you can now send images through chat not only in PeepSo view, but from anywhere on the site. And adding anything before or after the PeepSo Shortcodes on pages won’t cause any problems.

This Is What Else We’re Doing

We’re continuing to make PeepSo better with each release and we couldn’t be prouder.

And yes, we are working on adding custom fields to user profiles. The deadline isn’t set, but we want to release it as quickly as you want to use it 🙂

Once that’s done, we’ll start working on Groups.
