New Release: PeepSo 2.7.8 and Gecko 2.7.8.0

Incremental improvement of caching solutions compatibility. A brand new tighter PeepSo Blog Posts & Hashtags integration.

Third Party Caching

We have worked together with the developers of W3 Total Cache to solve some issues that have been plaguing PeepSo users with heavily cached pages. The previous release’s setting allowing to disable the strict AJAX security checks upon login was step one. In this release we ship an always-on caching plugin compatibility mode utilizing the DONOTCACHEPAGE directive which should stop all mainstream caching solutions (W3TC, WP Rocket) from caching certain critical shortcodes (registration, password reset, external link redirect).

Tighter Blog Posts Integration with Hashtags

We have tightened the PeepSo BlogPosts and Hashtags integration with WordPress posts by implementing a few major improvements.

If new blog posts are triggering a new PeepSo stream entry, you are now able to define a PeepSo Excerpt which will be used on top of the companion stream post. It’s a great way to drop a few personal words above the link preview, dedicated to your community but not showing in the WordPress post itself.

New PeepSo options in post add/edit screen

You will be also able to define PeepSo Hashtags, which will be displayed both in the companion post and the WordPress post. You can either type your own hashtags, decide to use the WordPress tags as PeepSo Hashtags, or both. There are new settings in the BlogPosts configuration screen, which let you control the positioning and sorting of the hashtags in the companion post and the parent WordPress post.

New Hashtags integration in the PeepSo BlogPost configuration

Both the PeepSo Excerpt and the PeepSo Hashtags will work great when searching and filtering the stream, allowing you to categorize the Blog content on the PeepSo stream in new ways.

Thank you this awesome release. W3 Total Cache yields the best and most stable results for my project. This just confirmed it. For a while been pondering on ways to integrate #hashtags and blogposts, PeepSo 2.7.8 bridges this issue well. Is there a filter to pass a post's WP tags to the new option "WordPress tags as PeepSo hashtags"? Or perhaps a way to have it automatically enabled for every new post (old + new is fine too)? Currently it would seem the checkbox must be enabled each time a new post is created which is shown on the backend. I have an array $post = [ 'tags_input' => 'name-of-tag'] that automatically inserts tags from post-name + meta which would greatly benefit from utilizing the new WP Posts to #hashtags method.

@peepso_user_10386(Josh Lewis) 2.7.9 is going to ship an "always check the WP tags" option which should simplify the flow, but to run the new logic on old posts you'd need to edit them all by hand or write some custom code to iterate over old posts.

This was a feature I was thinking of for a while, how handy it would be to share the tags. Having the tags in both is such improvement instead of having them both seperate.

Now I don't need the blog tags widget any more and the focus can go to the community itself to search for blogs via the hashtags in the community itself.

Eagerly waiting for upcoming updates.
