I wish I could write a happy and glowing comment, but I cannot. I have had so many licensing related problems with PeepSo that I am on the verge of abandoning what sounded like a very promising alternative to Buddy Press. I purchased the $149 core bundle and then spent two weeks traveling. When I returned home to try and get PeepSo working, I learn that all my plugins need updating, but that you no longer support the package I paid $149 for and want another $125. This is way over the top and is completely unacceptable. I have placed a support request, but have little hope that you will fix these problems before my head explodes from the utter frustration I have experienced trying to use PeepSo.

Bob I’ve just replied to the ticket where I explained everything in detail. There’s NO NEED for you to pay more. It’s a misunderstanding.

Bob Jones “you no longer support the package I paid $149 for and want another $125” I am afraid you misunderstand the message. The purchased bundles will work fine for the entire year since purchase, BUT after they expire you can’t EXTEND them, because they have been replaced with a cheaper alternative. So, the things you already paid for are safe and all that has to be done is make sure they are all on the same version number before activating. We can do it for you, just need “green light” and admin access. I’m sure Eric will take care of it via the support system.

I have spent the entire afternoon configuring and testing PeepSo with a focus on Groups. Visually it is pretty nice looking, but the performance is a bit sluggish. Much of this has to do with my GoDaddy server which will be an afterthought as soon as I have switched to a better platform; but the time to load groups and members does concern me, especially since the member list is all bollixed up and I can’t do a bunch of things that I want to do with Groups and Members. I am concerned about the number of problems I am encountering, but if I get quick responses like I did from Eric today, I think I can work through them.

Bob your patience and understanding is appreciated. Migrations aren’t the best topic. Starting fresh is a breeze, compared to them. I’ve replied to the migration questions and we’ll assist with it all.

Just to make sure we’re on the same page, Extended Profiles (ProfileSo) plugin is connected to User Profiles not to Groups. But I think I covered that in my ticket reply as well.

As for the server, PeepSo does have its server, php etc. requirements. As it’s a godaddy server, start with asking the hosting support about the php version. I think you might still be on a 5.6 php. If that’s the case, ask them to upgrade it to at least 7.0 if not 7.1. That alone will speed everything up. I’m not sure if you are that ‘deep’ in the programming world but this infographic should give you some perspective: http://www.zend.com/en/resources/php7_infographic according to it WordPress sites are close to being 2x faster on php7 compared to 5.6… Read more

Merav, I’m happy for Eric and Matt but disappointed to hear you will no longer be involved with Peepso. Please keep us informed if you move on to another new and exciting WordPress project!
